‘Shocked and appalled’: Former DV cop blows whistle on ‘boys’ club’

FOLKS - tonight we read about a 'boys club' culture with in the Queensland Police Service.

UNFORTUNATELY what has been largely ignored by the media is the entrenched culture with in the ranks of QPS, where officers disrespect cultural groups, are homophobic, and completely disregard the rights of people who have a mental health issue by naming them as "SPOONHEADS". These issues have come out of the Inquiry into Domestic Violence - yet almost totally ignored by the Media, as well as Senior Management within QPS, including the Commissioner!

Clearly this CURRENT CULTURE WITH IN QPS does not reflect community expectations. I suggest that the ONLY way to see change happen is to implement a system of CIVILIAN OVERSIGHT, as well as a system of compensation to victims of Police Misconduct and Corruption that actually comes out of the pockets of offending police officers, governed by Civilian Oversight to reflect the actual expectations of police in Queensland.

FOLKS I know these issues exist in other police 'services' around Australia. There are some petitions started in other states, so please research petitions on CHANGE.ORG to support them.
