FOLKS - Today we see the announcement of a new Inquiry into the Crime and Corruption Commission by Tony Fitzgerald.
The terms of reference are very narrow unfortunately, however one issue will be looked into that aligns with the purpose of this petition - the use of POLICE in the Crime and Corruption Commission.
This has unfortunately been an issue with the Crime and Corruption Commission for a long time. It has been morphed several times to where it is now officially a CRIME FIGHTING ORGANISATION alongside the police against ordinary citizens.
The use of police to investigate police is something we are fighting against. There can be no room to see a system where the culture of the 'silent blue line' can infiltrate any system of integrity at all.
FOLKS here is a case study that deserves attention and illustrates perfectly what we are talking about. This case involves a person who had their house raided (search warrant) in a joint police operation between Queensland and the AFP. Two Qld Cops were involved, and one of them assaulted the person. This assault was caught on the audio recording of the AFP that was made at the time. Fast forward, the person actually did nothing wrong, no convictions what so ever.
This person made a complaint to Qld Police, and he stated very clearly to the 'Officer in Charge' of the unit that was involved in the search - you see Internal Investigations send these types of complaints to the Senior Officer involved to 'investigate themselves'.... The result of the complaint "NOT SUBSTANTIATED". When this person did an FOI for the material associated with his complaint, this Senior Officer wrote that QPS could not get a copy of the recording from the AFP "because it would damage the working relationship between the two organisations" thus the complaint was "NOT SUBSTANTIATED".
This person then goes to the Crime and Corruption Commission, and you know what they did? They sent it back to QPS AGAIN to investigate! And AGAIN they stated "COMPLAINT NOT SUBSTANTIATED".
The thing is, by this stage, this person had a copy of the recording made by the AFP.
The CCC then wrote to this person after he complained to the CCC stating they would not be investigating the issue again!
This person then, not satisfied with the response from the CCC, took the matter to the Parliamentary Committee for the CCC - was sent a letter stating that their involvement was 'secret' and thus he could not talk about it to anyone. Even with the evidence this person stated he had, the Parliamentary Committee - after taking several months to investigate this issue, FOUND NOTHING OUT OF SORTS WITH THIS SITUATION.
FOLKS - I have listened to this person's copy of the recording personally, and can attest to the FACT that an assault did happen, he complained on the day to the police, and a Qld COP on the DAY, stated he would make sure his complaint was taken care of. WELL IT WAS TAKEN CARE OF ALL RIGHT - ON BEHALF OF THE CORRUPT POLICE WHO ATTENDED ON THE DAY!
I will be assisting this person to lodge a submission to the current Inquiry!
Something STINKS IN THE STATE OF QUEENSLAND......
AND IT NEEDS TO CHANGE!
