Rural towns often find themselves drawing the short straw when it comes to services and facilities. Unfortunately, the only airline flying to and from Thangool has decided to cancel all services as of Feb 2017. This leaves locals having to drive a minimum of 1.5 hours to fly to Brisbane which is incredibly inconvenient and creates further isolation.

Those who visit family, use the service to obtain medical treatment or for business purposes will be those hurt the most. 

For years, locals have been hit with airfares sometimes over $500 one way. It is incredibly unfair to point the finger at locals and say it's their fault for not using the service when these were the options provided.

We ask that Qantas reconsider their decision to completely pull out of the Thangool service, or alternatively, look at revising fares (not just those booked 3+ months in advance) or put it to another provider to look at supporting rural Queensland.
