I learned to fly and to be a leader in the US Navy. All that experience and training were put to the test on the QF72 accident, 7 October 2008. Now, the YouTube/ 7NEWS Sydney episode of QF72 has just surpassed 8 million views on YouTube. Our story is out there and it is viral, for many good reasons. The bravery and courage of my passengers and crew, the compassion showed by the town of Exmouth in mobilising assistance for us at Learmonth airport, and the professionalism of the WA Police and Royal Flying Doctor Service to organise the rescue airlift of the survivors back to Perth are all big parts to this story. "No Man's Land" is the full story of our flight and the challenges we faced on that day, and after. Previous nominations for Australia's highest civilian Bravery award, the 'Cross of Valour' (CV) and other worthy Bravery Decorations put forward by our supporters have been declined by the Australian Bravery Decorations Council (an independent advisory body that considers nominations for awards and makes recommendations to the Governor-General)
