Dear Minister
Re: QF72 PETITION URGING PILOT RECOGNITION
I have been approached by Fuzzy Maiava, a constituent of mine, who was a steward on flight QF72 on 7 October 2008. As a result of that flight, he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, and is currently on ACC.
Fuzzy has organised a petition asking for the Australian Government to recognise Capt Kevin Sullivan (Ret.), First Officer Peter Lipsett and Second Officer Ross Hales for their heroic and extraordinary courage in saving the plane and its 315 passengers and crew from almost certain disaster. To date, over 45,000 have signed this petition, which can be found at the following location:

It is astounding that these pilots have not officially been recognised for their courageous actions, and I urge you to raise this issue with the Australian Government.
I look forward to your response on this issue.
Yours sincerely
Dan Bidois
MP for Northcote
