Dear EBRPSS Supporter,

I hope that you have had a terrific start to the academic year and that you are active in your local school. This month, we need to focus on the upcoming elections on November 8 (Early voting is at the end of October. ) If you are 18 and older, make sure that you are registered to vote. You may only vote for the school board candidate who lives in your district. You can find out your district on the Secretary of State’s website or the EBRPSS website.. 

You may volunteer for any candidate in the parish. Cathy Carmichael is an excellent candidate who needs your support canvassing district 7. The attached form lists the neighborhoods.  A brief and fun training session will be announced after volunteers sign up on the attached form. Canvassing involves talking to people and handing out literature about your candidate. Our entire family has done this together. 

Why is volunteering worth your precious time? Cathy is running against incumbent Mike Gaudet. Gaudet continues to support Superintendent Narcisse no matter what that support costs the district. In July, he fully supported a finance plan that will leave our district $56 million in debt next school year.

By contrast, Cathy would seek a balanced budget, age-appropriate policies for children, and a healthier community led by a superintendent who values parental input. Cathy has three children who currently attend our traditional public schools. Please sign up to support Cathy.

In addition to canvassing, you might want to put up a yard sign or bumper sticker. You may host a meeting through your civic association or simply invite neighbors to meet the candidates.
