Dear EBRPSS Supporter,

This Thursday, June 16th, the EBRPSS School Board holds its general meeting to vote on the general budget as well as special revenue budget. I urge you to attend with a mask or to watch online. You may take time to scroll through the various documents connected to the agenda. These documents detail some of the expenditures, list who is retiring, and briefly describe new job positions.

Each meeting has been informative and disturbing. I realize that many of you are on summer relaxation mode, but it is in the best interest of all to stay informed and to take action.

Efforts are still being made in the courts to create equitable, representative, and fair redistricting maps. Smaller districts would be more manageable for those who would like to be school board candidates. The qualifying period for candidates is July 20-22. Local and municipal candidates qualify with the clerk of court in the parish in which they are registered to vote. The Secretary of State's website has more information. Please message Friends of Public Ed or EBR Parents for a New School Board via Facebook if you are interested in running for the EBRP School Board. Ideal candidates show their love of our public schools by attending them, sending children to them, working in them, or advocating for them on a long-term basis. Ideal candidates are responsive to emails, calls, petitions, protests, and public comments.  We are looking for servant-leaders, not arrogant power-mongers. We are looking for candidates who understand the developmental needs of children and teens. Are we looking for you?

Take a bold step this week.

Mary
