Gyms should be taking care of our Mental Health as much as our Physical Health

Gyms should be taking care of our Mental Health as much as our Physical Health
The Issue
Too often, individuals are sold on the idea that our “health” is limited to only the physical. This needs to change.
We attend gyms to work on our strength, endurance and cardiovascular capabilities because we are well aware that this will improve our physical health. But, more recently, studies are showing the importance and benefit of combining physical activity WITH mental wellbeing.
But why isn’t there a mental health presence in gyms?
Would we be more inclined to look after our mental health, if it were provided for in the same environment as our physical health?
We want gym providers to start taking care of individual’s mental health as much as they care about our physical health.
Stress-Less Fitness and Run Talk Run have partnered to develop a system which can be implemented within any gym location to allow people to work on their mental health at the same time as their physical health, because we believe they carry equal weight and importance.
Stress-Less has designed a course which equips a fitness professional to be able to help build a person’s mental health and wellness as well as the physical. It teaches them how to converse about mental health, techniques for stress reduction and training the body with state control.
Run Talk Run is a mental health support community, which uses the transformative benefits of running to facilitate deeper and more meaningful conversations about how we are feeling. We believe the Run Talk Run ethos of movement ALONGSIDE open conversation can be applied to a variety of sports/training.
Together, we can change the face of our fitness centres. Show your support and help us to bring mental health into the physical domain.
