Punjab State Wildlife Board under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder SIngh has allowed killing of Nilgai & other wild animals by farmers in case of Crop Damage.
In 2010 the then CM Prakash Singh Badal withdrew the orders of previous Govt to uphold the sentiments of People as gai is worshipped by Hindus.
Punjab govt. should pay compensation to the farmers for damage of crops instead of hunting these animals and resort to sterlization or relocation of blue bulls and wild boars.
The new state wildlife board was reconstituted to adjust near & dear ones, no representatives of NGO and wildlife animal lovers were considered.
It is alleged that a majority of the members inducted in the board are known hunters.
The Punjab wildlife is not safe in the hands of current WIldlife board.
Punjab Govt. and the Wildlife state board has hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindus as well as Animal lovers by allowing hunting of Nil GAI ( Blue Bulls ).
We request CM Capt. Amarinder Singh to take back the Order of killing of wild animals on pretext of damaging the farmers crop and resort to the scientific method of resolving the problem as per the Wildlife Act of 1972.
They should subsidize electronic fencing, resort to crop insurance and compensation .
If the orders are not taken back tourists should not make punjab their tourist destination.
