South Cambs District Council backs the campaign to pressurise EWRCo to publish the business case

While individual voices can, when synchronised, create dramatic impact, when local government gets behind a campaign, the impact is amplified.
That's what happened this week when South Cambridgeshire DC debated a petition I brought before them, asking that they seek the early publication of the business case from East West Rail Co. I was pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming expressions of support from councillors, and I'm grateful to them, and also the people who signed the petition, which was similarly worded to the one on here.
In the end SCDC agreed unanimously for a request be sent to EWRCo and also that the company be invited to answer questions from councillors. If the public is allowed to attend, I will let you know. If not, I will be following up at the next council meeting.
What next? Well, I am launching a question at Cambridgeshire County Council next week, and hope to get a similarly warm reception - but we will see.
Meanwhile, I understand Richard Fuller MP is following through on his intention to launch a debate in Westminster, and if the Speaker allows it, we will see the topic brought directly to Government.
Thank you again for your support - as usual, please forward the petition URL to friends family, neighbours - anyone who you think might be able to swell our numbers. As I write, we're at 1800 signatures - let's get to 2000 as soon as possible!
Thanks again,
Steve
