The Issue

We the undersigned petitioners wish to express our opposition to your proposed Route EF. We understand that your engineers confirmed at one of the meetings that it is likely that the towers to be constructed on Route EF will be the 120 - 130 foot towers. We believe that towers of this size running through our community and along 1097 as depicted on your map will impact the ambiance of our community, its look and feel, present a safety hazard for our children and lower our property values.
The route as depicted on your map not only goes through our community, it crosses our main entrance and continues along the South side of the Lake Conroe bridge. The entrance to our community and the view of the lake as we cross the bridge are important visual characteristics for our community. We believe the planned towers will destroy that.
We understand these towers have ladders on the side. We believe the existence of these towers in our community presents a safety hazard for our children, some of whom may well attempt the climb.
We believe that the existence of these towers along Route EF will lower our property values by making Bentwater a less attractive place to live. This will not only impact us, but will impact the revenue base for Montgomery County as Bentwater provides a disproportionately large percentage of County revenue.
We believe that your notices of public hearing were deceptive and insufficient. Had you advised us that Route EF was likely to have the 120 – 130 foot towers, the attendance at your meetings would have been materially greater, even though you scheduled them in August when many are traveling. We believe the timing of the meetings and the inadequate notice was done intentionally to minimize public input.
Bentwater is a community of 2,000 homes and approximately 6,000 people. The impact of these towers will affect all of us, not just those adjacent to the right of way.
We are asking that you abandon Route EF as an alternative.
