Please be sure to hit the points in your letter that will help in the sharing of a message of continuity.
● We are all concerned with animal welfare and offer the best care opportunities to the specialty pets in our lives
● Specialty pets are domesticated pets equal to that of cats and dogs
● A significant number of specialty pets in Canada are all captive produced by responsible breeders of long term 3 and 4th generation breedings
● There are a multitude of governing levels that regulate the commercial trade of specialty pets worldwide for example CITES https://cites.org/eng CFIA https://inspection.canada.ca/animal-health/eng/1299155513713/1299155693492
● The economical impact is equal to the emotional impact this new bylaw will create
● We are responsible pet owners and provide all the nutritional needs, safe habitat housing, veterinarian requirements and offer enrichment to our “specialty pets” daily lives
● Encourage the city of Winnipeg to work with specialty pet stakeholder advocacy groups such as CanHerp
● Remember when creating these submissions municipal politicians are in the seats of council thanks to your votes. At this stage it is in the Professional well written and to the point letters will gain more traction than a tirade of verbiage.
