What’s Happening ?!?

Sadly (but not surprisingly) we all feel like we are being kept in the dark as to what is happening to Billingham Town Centre.

We know these things can be very complex, but with the funding allocated so long ago by the previous conservative government it is frustrating to see things go so slowly that it looks like no progress is being made at all…but we may be able to offer a slight glimmer of information.

The council is still (very slowly, not sure about surely?) working with the owners Evolve to finalise the partial acquisition and relocation of Businesses within the town centre, to then be followed by demolition works.

We were informed previously that access across site presented an issue for the authority with this permission and issue resolved by allowing Evolve to demolish Queensway South before the council takes ownership as this would be more efficient...?

And well, after a very long battle we are finally expecting further details to come out shortly regarding a Public Consultation!!!! In relation to investment priorities for Billingham, something we have all fought for with more details to follow soon.

Hopefully this will be the meaningful, open and authentic consultation we have asked for and not predetermined questions and agenda, in order to allow you -the people, a greater say and greater transparency.
