Once common, these poor birds are being hunted into extinction for their bills. Helmeted hornbills only nest in old trees. They require primary forest to survive. Fortunately, the kluet region provides them with good habitat. If we are to save this magnificent bird, we will need to secure the kluet watershed and similar habitats.
