I worry more now because I know, without a doubt, how fragile life really is. The unimaginable happened to me. My world was shattered in a single moment, and once you’ve lived through that kind of loss, you can’t unknow it. That sense of safety is gone. You realize everything can change in an instant, and that reality follows you everywhere you go. As I continue to investigate and try to evoke change the reality of how deep rooted the problems are become apparent. 

Waterloo Region Health Network did not submit the mandatory hospital ADR reports required under Vanessa’s Law for my daughter Madisyn. They were reported by myself and pharmaceutical companies Sivem and Sanis.
While I understand the immense pressures faced by hospitals and healthcare professionals, the practical result is that many serious adverse drug reactions are never captured in Canada’s national safety data. Despite my efforts, Health Canada will not be enforcing any action towards WRHN for noncompliance or even require them to report the ADRs now.

This is from the internet in regards to Vanessa’s Law. However, I suspect that it’s more than half the hospitals that have not reported ADRs.

Lagging Accountability: Critics argue that Health Canada had the inherent power to order drug recalls and protect the public long before the law was passed, but it often failed to use these powers effectively due to a historically interconnected relationship with the pharmaceutical industry.

This is the Canada we’re dealing with. How many regulatory bodies are simply there to give the illusion of public safety and accountability? Disturbing is not strong enough a word.
