Alcohol ranks number one of most dangerous drugs in the world due to its accessibility and the extensive health problems and injuries associated with use. An estimated 95,000 people die from alcohol-related causes annually. I’m betting that everyone reading this knows multiple people that died or suffer from alcohol related health problems.
It appears that once a drug is introduced to society legally or illegally it will always remain. Fentanyl came out and the deaths started. We were all initially outraged but eventually, like alcohol it became old news and the attention lessened. On most television shows now alcohol is completely normalized. We looked at the fentanyl crisis and forgot that alcohol kills far more people. We’re just used to it now.
Society needs to be protected from addictive substances but irregardless of this our government, Doctors, illegal drug dealers and big Pharma make billions of dollars. It’s not just illegal drug dealers that are the problem but the ones in the white lab coats as well. In my opinion it’s not reasonable to ask people to be responsible when you’re giving them a drug that can make them irresponsible. This is why we needs laws like Madi’s Law in place. It’s just God given common sense. Psychotropic drugs may help a lot of people but we can do this more responsibly to lessen the deaths and harm. This is parallel to the bar tenders who are now held accountable for over serving.
Knowledge is power so we must continue to openly speak and tell our stories. Be the light in the darkness…the world needs more light. Never underestimate the power of speaking up! Thank you for supporting Madi’s Law! Let’s continue the good fight!
