Every medical negligence lawsuit against a Doctor in Canada is defended by the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA). The CMPA is not an insurance company. It is funded by annual fees contributed by the Doctors and much larger amounts provided by provincial governments. 

In 2021 the CMPA reserved 91,000,000 to fight lawsuits against it's member doctors and to pay damages awarded against doctors. The CMPA vigorously fights every lawsuit over several years. They are Goliath and we are David. 

On top of this there's a two year statute of limitations. There's also a cap on the amount a lawsuit against a Doctor can be. This system is not helpful in providing accountability. This is why we need to be involved in preventing harm. We need this waiver. Please stand with me!
