In Canada, it has generally been considered improper to charge taxes on items considered basic-necessities ... especially foodstuffs that aren't 'snacks'.

Families, especially lower-income ones, already have difficulties keeping themselves fed, and often have to survive without many things that most people take for granted ... like vehicles, sports-team or gym memberships, and even healthy choices of food (like fresh meat, vegetables, and fruit).

Many of these families also include a pet that has made life more than just surviving ... Our pets make life worth living and keep their human family physically, mentally, and socially healthier ... But proper food (I'm not talking treats) for our cats, dogs, and other animal family-members, is taxed by both the provincial and federal governments, increasing the burden on families already at their limit - and food prepared for humans (especially the processed-'foods' that these families can afford) is not healthy for our pets, and can actually kill them in some cases.

Please stop this assault on a basic need for our most-vulnerable family members. Please stop the taxing of basic animal-food so that every pet, and family with pets, can continue to live without worrying where their next meal is coming from,
