In New Zealand, families with children over the age of three benefit from financial support through a set allocation of funded hours for childcare each week. This allows parents, particularly mothers, to make more balanced decisions regarding career and homemaking without the overwhelming financial strain of childcare costs. But what about families with younger children, those under the age of three? These families face a daunting economic burden during a time that is already precious and challenging.

According to Statistics New Zealand, over 45% of mothers return to work sooner than they would've preferred due to the high cost of childcare. By having financial support for children under three, families can have added relief at home, take extended parental leave, and ensure that children have the necessary care they deserve.
