Dear friends, neighbors, and supporters of sustainability,
I’m writing today not just as a member of this community, but as someone who believes deeply in the protection of our natural heritage. The forest of Uvita—known affectionately by many of us as the "Bosque de Uvita"—is under imminent threat, and we need your voice to help protect it.
This is not just a green space. It is a living ecosystem, home to countless species of flora and fauna, a natural buffer that supports biodiversity, and a peaceful sanctuary that nourishes the spirit of everyone who walks through it. It’s part of what makes Uvita special.
Unfortunately, plans are underway that could change this forest forever. Construction and development proposals threaten to fragment the area, displace wildlife, and destroy a vital green lung of our town.
We’ve launched this petition on Change.org to call upon local authorities, national institutions, and environmental regulators to take action—to stop the destruction and instead declare this forest a protected area. We believe in responsible development, but not at the cost of the very nature that sustains us.
By signing this petition, you are standing up for:
The preservation of biodiversity
Sustainable tourism and responsible urban planning
The health and future of our children and community
Let’s show Costa Rica—and the world—that our community protects what matters. That we value the real treasures of Uvita: its people, its forest, and its spirit.

Together, we can make a difference.
