A nature walk was conducted by "Save Kavesar Lake Citizens Movement" for 40 girl students from SNDT College, Matunga at Kavesar Lake,  the only natural wetland left in Thane City.

Sachin Adhikari from Mohraan Farms alongwith volunteers from Save Kavesar Lake Citizens Movement explained to the students about the importance of Kavesar wetland habitat and its robust biodiversity.  Information was provided to the students about the heritage trees, the edible plant species and the several Ranbhajjis (wild edible veggies) growing in the habitat of the lake.  Scientific information was also provided about the acquatic species, the riparian zone of the wetland, the animals and birds living and nesting at the Kavesar wetland. 

A brief background was provided about the Citizens Movement to protect the lake habitat in its natural form and the unique ecosystem services like flood control, recharging of ground water, etc was explained to the students.
