Can we afford to destroy wetlands and their ecosystems for construction and entertainment purposes?? India cities are facing a drinking water crisis. Wetlands are instrumental in augmenting the groundwater and increasing the water table. Wetlands also act as natural defence against floodwaters. This is suicidal to everyone both man and non-human species. The question is who is seeking this kind of development- people or vested interests.
