Change.org claims that the average petition gets one signature for every 25 views of the petition.  Our petition is currently receiving a new signer for every five times the petition is viewed.  So thanks for the support.  It is an amazing conversion rate.

The question we would like to answer is why the huge disconnect between what the public wants and what many elected officials are willing to do.  Basically, it seems that folks who sign the petition support wildlife and many elected officials support species extinction by their refusal to urgently protect habitats. 

As habitats are lost, degraded or fragmented, some species that live in them eventually go extinct.  That's why we say some public officials actually support species extinction if they aren't urgently protecting and hopefully even recovering habitats under their charge.   City Councils around the country are in a position to slow, halt or even reverse this process.  Please wake up, City Councils!
