Paula is not a professional politician. And she is not an automatic rubber stamp for everything developers propose to do in Lakewood.
She is a grass roots candidate who is concerned about the massive apartment project proposed adjacent to Belmar Park that is the subject of our petition. She has pointed out the proposal does not comply with Lakewood's Comprehensive Plan.
We agree with Paula. Unfortunately, neither Lakewood's City Council nor the Planning Department have required the Belmar Park West developer to comply with the city's Comprehensive Plan. We feel that is a major abdication of their fiduciary responsibility to Lakewood citizens. We salute Paula for being willing to volunteer to step up on behalf of Lakewood citizens to help address this glaring Comprehensive Plan oversight!

What about your background and experience would make you an effective mayor or council member?
"I am an empathetic person, and my passion is helping others. Understanding the needs of my fellow citizens, ensuring their voices are heard, and working to develop comprehensive solutions to their concerns will be my focus.
I earned a master’s in business administration (MBA) from the University of Miami, which enhances my perspective and understanding of complex matters. I also believe it is important to look at the big picture to understand overall implications and impacts of issues and solutions."

The reason for this Special Election is that Wendi Strom was recently elected Mayor of Lakewood and was required to vacate her Ward 5 City Council seat as a result.
