Despite the tens of thousands of emails this petition has generated to District Attorney James Farrell urging him to reconsider his aggressive prosecution of Amber, he has so far refused to budge.
At this time, we would like to encourage people who support Amber in her struggle against these charges to make a short phone call to enhance the impact of their petition signature.
The official website for the District Attorney's office states that "It is our duty and obligation to protect the innocent, enhance public safety and make our streets and homes safe and secure for the citizens of our county."
You can be Amber's voice by calling the District Attorney's office and leaving a brief, polite message on her behalf explaining why you think prosecuting her is not in line with that statement.
The District Attorney's Office is open normal business hours, Monday- Friday and can be reached at (845) 794-3344.
A suggested script is below:
"I am surprised you're using resources to prosecute Amber Canavan when she was trying to help animals. Going ahead with this trial will not help anyone and diverts time and funding that could be going toward important law enforcement goals. Prosecuting a whistle blower for bringing a signed affidavit to law enforcement regarding this cruelty is an injustice. I urge your office to drop the charges against Ms. Canavan immediately. Thank You."
