Dear Neighbors and Friends from the Forest Hill Community, Beginning in June, you gathered to oppose "2226 Rockspring Road, LLC" and "Country Club Investors, LLC"'s petitions to rezone 35.16 acres of RR land in Forest Hill to 21.68 acres of R-2 and 13.28 acres of B-3. Thanks to your hard work, the Harford County government heard our concerns: - On July 23rd, Councilman Chad Shrodes offered his position that R-1 will be the only zoning classification that he would consider (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10100256008554038&set=gm.1968662833389861&type=3&theater&ifg=1). - On August 10th, the Planning Advisory Board agreed with the Harford County Planning & Zoning department's recommendation to "upzone 35 acres at the intersection of Routes 23 and 24 in Forest Hill from the less dense rural residential to R-1 residential," at most. (http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/harford/aegis/ph-ag-pab-hearing-0811-20170810-story.html) - Last week, the administration of County Executive Barry Glassman agreed with those recommendations that the zoning of these lands be capped at R-1. Now, we need you to support Chad Shrodes, the PAB, the Glassman adminstration, and the P&Z department's strong stance on this issue. Forest Hill wants its representatives to reject any commercial zoning application whatsoever, and limit any zoning changes to R-1! SO HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP: 1. Keep writing letters to your other councilmen. Contact jacob.klein@wakefern.com if you need the electronic files, addresses and email templates to send. 2. Keep getting your neighbors to sign the online petition: https://www.change.org/p/protect-this-village-tell-the-county-council-and-the-rest-of-harford-county-government-to-oppose-harford-county-rezoning-issues-d-001-d-002-d-007 3. Harford County Council is having a work session with the Planning Department on comprehensive rezoning on Tuesday Sept. 26th, 2pm to 5pm, in the Council Chambers, 212 S. Bond Street Bel Air, MD 21014. Typically members of the public cannot speak at the work session. Attend this and show your support for the "Protect This Village" movement. 4. The first public hearing on the Comprehensive Rezoning Bill will be on Monday, October 2 at Aberdeen High School starting at 6:30 PM. Members of the public may speak and should sign up ahead of time. We need to pack the hall with our people and unify our voice. 5. The second public hearing is being held on Thursday, October 5th at 6:30 PM at Bel Air High School. This is another opportunity to show how many people feel that R-1 is the highest suitable zoning classification for this land. Make your presence known! Thank you for staying involved. Sign the petition, spread the word, and Protect This Village.
