Hi folks,
Firstly, congrats on 12,000 signatures! We are only 2,000 shy of the entire population of Gogebic County!
Secondly, below is the Zoom log-in info for the Michigan Strategic Fund board meeting, tomorrow @ 10 a.m. EST.
The Michigan Strategic Fund has released the meeting agenda and they will not be voting on the Copperwood grant yet. This is excellent news— usually by the time something reaches a vote, the important conversations have already taken place and minds have already been made up. This means we have more time to build opposition, and the more impressive our showing tomorrow, the more we can use it as leverage to push for a private meeting with a longer-form presentation of concerns.
Even if you do not plan on submitting a comment, attendance itself is a powerful statement. The power of a protest lies not just in who is waving a sign or who is shouting, but in the sheer quantity of participants. Imagine the message we'd send if we can make this the highest-attended MSF board meeting ever! Even if you are busy, we all know how easy it is to simply log in and leave a virtual meeting unattended...
On another note, on Wednesday the 28th, EGLE will be holding a public hearing regarding the proposed Tilden Mine waste pile expansion in Marquette County, and everyone is encouraged to attend and provide comments. Please see Kathleen Heideman's presentation (starts at 39:00) and register for the meeting here.
Take care!
