Labor commits to Protect The Crystal

Hi to all supporters,
This is the media release issued yesterday by Melissa Horne MP, supporting our petition and promising to extend Jawbone Marine Sanctuary:
"A re-elected Carroll Labor Government will extend the Jawbone Marine Sanctuary at Williamstown Beach to protect The Crystals.
This beautiful reef sits a few hundred metres outside of the protection of the Jawbone Marine Sanctuary and is home to seahorses, stingrays, seagrass beds and even more marine life.
Victoria is home to 11 marine sanctuaries, and this one is both the smallest and one of the most accessible to the public for mixed use – which means it is under threat from over harvesting and fishing waste.
That’s why Labor will back the Jawbone Marine Sanctuary Care Group, the Snorkel Sisters and thousands of locals to protect The Crystals for generations to come.
And we’ll do this by putting it in legislation.
A Carroll Labor Government will amend the National Parks (Marine National Parks and Marine Sanctuaries) Act 2022 to increase the size of the Jawbone Marine Sanctuary.
Only Melissa Horne and a Labor Government will protect our local marine life so future generations can enjoy it too.
“The Crystals is a special plane in Williamstown. Only a re-elected Carroll Labor Government will make sure that we are keeping the Crystals protected for future generations to enjoy.”
Thanks to Melissa for this commitment. Melissa has been supportive since day one of this campaign.
This is not over yet. We need as much support as possible.
