Thanks to the support received from all the signatories of this petition and thanks to all the work done by Auroville and others, the NHAI has not proceeded with its plans to build the highway. Though there seems to have been no intimation that the idea is buried (or better, cremated!) for good, there is every reason to hope that it has been shelved.

This petition will remain open because there is no closure as yet on this topic.

The goodwill towards Auroville and its forests that has been expressed by all of you is, I believe, a strong force of protection.
