We’ve got some exciting news that the Texas Governor has officially recognized March 2026 as Child Life Month in Texas. This is exciting for our profession as a whole, but especially to those of us who work in Texas.

Texans- we are asking for your help to share this message with your representatives! This will take about 3-5 minutes of your time. Here’s what you do:

Understand WHY we need to do this: Government offices are required to read and tally the issues sent in from their constituents. This method of communication will help our push to licensure be top-of-mind for our representatives.

I am writing as a constituent regarding the recent Texas proclamation recognizing March 2026 as Child Life Month. As a child life specialist, I appreciate your support of our critical industry. 

Certified Child Life Specialists are essential clinicians uniquely trained at the intersection of psychosocial, cognitive, and emotional development and the realities of hospitalization, illness, trauma, and grief. They support children and families during some of their most challenging moments.

Trained child life specialists matter because families deserve to know that the professional at their child’s bedside is properly trained, credentialed, and held to clear standards of practice and accountability. Child Life Specialists serve wherever children, families, and stress or trauma intersect. Formal recognition through licensure will enhance public safety, support parents in advocating for their children with confidence, and ensure Texas continues to lead in protecting and strengthening families.
