CPRE Hampshire
Jun 1, 2018
Thank you for being one of the 11,400 people who have signed our petition to protect South Hampshire’s countryside. You have helped show just how important access to green space is.
Next week Council Leaders will decide whether to commit team members to explore how to protect the South Hampshire countryside.
On Tuesday 5th June we will present our plans for a new Green Belt to protect the South Hampshire countryside to the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH) Joint Committee.
The committee is made up of the 10 Councils from the South Hampshire sub-region, including those who should introduce a new Green Belt in their Local Plans, and Hampshire County Council. All the key people will be in the room.
Following our presentation, it is recommended that the committee “… DECIDES whether the PUSH Planning Officer Group is to bring a full report back to the Joint Committee, in light of the presentation by CPRE, to advise whether there is any justification for considering a Green Belt across the PUSH area.”
You can see the full agenda and supporting papers here: https://www.push.gov.uk/work/our-meetings/joint-committee/
If PUSH agrees, this would be a huge step forward for our campaign. The Planning Officers Group would be tasked with exploring the options for protecting the South Hampshire countryside, working with Test Valley, Winchester, Eastleigh, and Fareham who have some of the most vulnerable green spaces.
Whatever the outcome we will update you soon after the meeting. Thank you for helping us get to this point!
