The Animal Welfare (Service Animals) Bill 2018

A bill making it a specific offence to attack service animals is set to become law after the government decided to back the measure, closing what campaigners said was a loophole in existing legislation. It also removes a current provision for someone to claim self defense if they have harmed a service animal with longer sentences.

With DUP backing the Party will ask for inclusion under Animal Welfare legislation for Northern Ireland.
