Decision Reached on Flavored Tobacco Sales in Revere
Revere CARES Coalition
Feb 27, 2017
Dear Community Members,
We wanted to provide you an update to let you know that on Tuesday, February 21st the Revere Board of Health voted 2 to 1 to keep flavored tobacco available throughout our city. Many business owners attended the meeting concerned about the impact on sales that the restriction would have on their stores. The business owners were supported by four city councilors who advocated on their behalf. While the proposal to restrict flavor tobacco did not pass, we are pleased to share that the board did approve raising the sales age of tobacco to 21.
We hope that signing this petition created awareness among you and your family about how Big Tobacco targets young people as replacement smokers. Use this opportunity to talk to the young people in your life, and remind them not to be pawns to the tobacco industry. Thank you for caring about the environment the youth in Revere live in. We hope you will continue to join us as we advocate for a community that encourages healthy decision among all residents.
