We’re thrilled to share the petition has passed 1,700 signatures and continues to grow! We’ve seen a tremendous response from people across the country, which speaks to the importance of this fight – we have signatures from people in 44 states. Most significantly, a quarter of those signatures have come from LA County. Our friends and neighbors are standing with us and against extremism, even when it seems our elected officials will not.
We encourage you to follow up with the friends and family you’ve shared the petition with. It’s easy to “mean to sign” and then get distracted by the million other notifications in our phone. We’ve received feedback that some names didn’t register, and that’s a great excuse to reach out to your community! If you’d like to confirm your signature is registered (even some of our founders’ names didn’t save the first time), we’ll be happy to check for you!
As we head into the week, our next big initiative will be the Beverly Hills City Council meeting this Tuesday, October 3 at 7pm. We would love to have you join us, either in person or virtually! In particular, we’re looking for volunteers to give public comment, but that is not a requirement to attend (neither is being a Beverly Hills resident!). If you’re not comfortable with public speaking, the council does accept virtual comment by phone or email. Please email comments to cityclerk@beverlyhills.org (and cc Attorney General Rob Bonta’s office at piu@doj.ca.gov).
Thank you again for all your support and encouragement. We look forward to seeing you at the city council meeting on Tuesday! If you'd like to receive additional updates, please follow us at bhforchoice on instagram or email us at bhforchoice at gmail.com.
