Last night I waited five hours for my turn to speak at the Community Board 7 meeting. It was 11:15 by then and everyone was tired. I ran over my two minutes but the part I delivered into the record was sufficient and a board member suggested I bring it to the next meeting of the Transportation committee. I will do that.

The YMCA from the get-go has been directing us to Councilmember Gale Brewer, as have several of the people who signed the petition. I wanted to be able to say we've already put it in front of CB7 before we did that. Now that we have done that and also collected over 350 signatures, it's time to notch our game up a level to include Brewer and Mark Levine, the Manhattan Burrough President.

80% of our signatures are from New York and New Jersey. 30% are from the zip code 10023, the same zip code as the YMCA and ECFS. We had a total of 340+ sigs yesterday and 370+ today. Our petition has been circulating for 12 days.

Today when I talked to Lorrie Williams, the receptionist at Levine's office, she suggested involving NY Parks, which makes complete sense, especially as their drivers are some of the worst offenders in terms of following the traffic rules in our crosswalk. I've asked Lorrie for help navigating the bureaucracy to find the right contact at NY Parks. That should come along in a couple of days.

Tonight's screengrab is an NYC Parks vehicle running the red light in our crosswalk TODAY.
