Per the EVT Advocacy Group:
Last night’s BOS meeting drew an overflowing, standing-room-only crowd of concerned residents. Speaker after speaker made it clear how unsuitable a 1.4 million sq. ft. Hyper-Scale Data Center would be at the historic Pennhurst Hospital grounds.
Our resident Veterans delivered powerful testimony about the need to protect the quiet, healing environment they rely on. Other residents spoke to the enormous scale of the proposed facility — twice the size of Exton Mall and equal to seven Walmart Supercenters — and raised serious concerns about the environmental, health, and community impacts.
A central question remains unanswered: Why push for a 500MW mega-facility when the Township’s legal obligation to provide for the use could be met with a smaller, more sustainable scale that protects residents and the Pennhurst campus?
Despite clear public concern and calls for stronger protections, the Board continued toward its predetermined timeline to adopt the ordinance.
Next steps:
• Dec. 3 BOS Meeting — Derek Strine the owner of the property will present his views on the draft ordinance.
• Dec. 17 — The Board is setting this as the Public Hearing and potentially vote.
We’ll post the meeting video as soon as it becomes available.
