🚨 CAMPAIGN UPDATE: Huge Momentum & Key Successes this Week! 🚨

We have had an absolutely massive week of progress for Protect Penicuik Green Spaces. Thanks to your incredible support, our collective voice is growing too loud for the planners to ignore.

🏛️ 1. Holyrood Success & Upcoming MSP Meeting

A small delegation from our campaign met face-to-face with Calum Kerr MSP at the Scottish Parliament this week. He took our evidence, covering the Site R26 ransom strips, structural aqueduct blockades, and downslope flooding hazards, on board. He is taking these data flaws into his upcoming meetings with the Council Leader and Chief Executive. Following this success, we have our next parliamentary meeting locked in for next week to double the political pressure.

🏛️ 2. Penicuik Community Council Meeting (Monday 14 September)

Mark your diaries. The Community Council has stepped up massively to support us. On Monday, 14 September (7pm–9pm) at the Town Hall, they are moving the meeting into the downstairs main hall to accommodate us and are suspending all other council business to focus 100% on saving our green spaces. A massive thank you to the Community Council for going the extra mile for our town: let’s pack the hall out.

✍️ 3. The Penicuik Objection Guide is Live!

To help everyone beat the looming 25 September deadline, we have put together a comprehensive Technical Objection Guide. A huge thank you to a campaign veteran for sharing the blueprints from his previous successful greenfield defense campaign.

Action: Go to the "Files" tab at the top of our Facebook page and download Penicuik_Guide.pdf. Choose 2 or 3 technical headings (like drainage or schools) and send your unique, personal email to ldp@midlothian.gov.uk today. (Remember: no direct copy-pasting or templates, as planners clump them together.)
📊 4. Numbers are Exploding: Over 1,300 Signatures!

Our community power is surging. The Facebook group has officially smashed past 500 active members, and our master petition has rocketed to over 1,300 signatures. This proves to the independent planning reporter that this is a unified, town-wide mandate.

📄 5. Highly Professional New Leaflets Hit the Streets

Our newly designed and updated campaign leaflets are printed and actively being handed out across the neighbourhood. A massive, heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in designing, printing and handing these out, they look infinitely more professional and impactful than the ones I threw together initially.

📰 6. Reaching the Wider Community (Town Crier & Library Maps)

We are working hard to bridge the digital divide and reach residents who aren't on social media:

The Town Crier: We have secured dedicated information space in the upcoming edition to ensure our message hits more households.
Penicuik Library Map: The library team has kindly placed an official Penicuik map behind the front desk. It is available upon request, so you can drop in and physically trace the exact boundary threats to Sites R25, R26, and R27.

We are doing everything right, catching the planners out on their own data, and fighting as a professional team. Let's keep this incredible momentum moving through the weekend! 🚜❌🌲
