It has come to my attention that Pet Supermarkets and Pet Supplies Plus are getting reptiles and spiders from Reptile Industries which is out of Naples Florida. From my understanding this seems to be a large supplier to many of the big chain stores....

Unfortunately I have found many people who have bought spiders who were supposed to be male or told they are captive bred yet they are ending up with GRAVID spiders! Many not knowing or understanding so they then have a home infested with baby spiders who don't stand a chance and the owners are overwhelmed and over run. This is not acceptable at all especially since.I was informed that the order sheet clearly states that they are wild caught so stores are bringing them in knowing this and lieing to make sales and choosing to continue to support the poaching and sale of wild caught spiders despite the health risks, unknown ages and often gravid spiders being brought in and sold. 

Please help and reach out to Reptile Industries if you have been affected by this. Also, you can report them to the Department of Agriculture and animal services if you want to reach further. The stores unfortunately are corporate and often must order from approved vendors so they do not have much of a choice. However, if we can ban together and get Reptile Industries to change their practices then we may be able to make a difference!!!!!!!!
