Since 2010, the NHS has been forced to close around 15,000 hospital beds. That is the equivalent of TWENTY-FOUR hospital closures. The dramatic reduction – equivalent to closing 24 hospitals – amounts to a 10 per cent fall in NHS beds at a time when the health service is under unprecedented pressure. Despite boasting of record funding, the Tories have actually increased the NHS spending by the lowest in history. Huge amounts of NHS mental health services are now provided by private US companies. The Tories said they wouldn't sell our NHS to America, but unfortunately they already are. We are now in a crisis with doctors, nurses and ambulance staff leaving their posts due to poor pay and working conditions.
