PROPOSAL - Option C

Why I Started This Petition

As a parent and Saratoga Springs resident, I’ve spent the past few weeks studying the proposed boundary changes, meeting with the Alpine School District Board, and analyzing enrollment data. While it’s clear that a boundary split must happen to balance school capacities, it’s equally clear that the way it’s done matters deeply, especially for our kids.

After running the district’s data and discussing projections with their planning team, I learned that Option C is the only plan that keeps every school within target utilization and projected growth, while also preserving the emotional and social wellbeing of our students.

Under this plan, some families will still move to a new school, and while that’s never easy, it ensures they’ll only have to move once. The district’s other proposals (Options A & B) would require some students to move twice, first now, and again when they reach middle school, forcing them to start over repeatedly and lose the friendships and community ties that make school feel safe and familiar.

Option C keeps those circles of connection intact. It aligns every student with the correct feeder path so they can grow up with the same friends, attend the same city programs, and move together into middle and high school. It’s data-driven, balanced, and emotionally sound.

This isn’t just about maps and numbers. It’s about protecting the sense of belonging that helps children thrive, while still meeting the district’s operational goals responsibly.

If you believe we can find a solution that’s both fair and compassionate, please sign below to support this proposal and show the district that families and data can work hand in hand for the good of our community.
