A lot of people I have spoken with do not seem to realize the restrictions we already have against raising or growing our own food, not to mention hunting or fishing, even on our own property, without different government entities making it too expensive to do, or flat out banning various aspects of it, especially for things that are necessary for sustainable farming. Many municipalities, even smaller ones, do not allow even a chicken. HOAs often ban gardens, fruit trees, fruit bushes, and any kind of livestock at all on your own property. Hunting and fishing licenses make it more expensive to hunt or fish than to buy less healthy food at grocery stores. If you want to lower food prices, we need a right to farm in which, if you own the property, you can have a garden, raise whatever livestock you want, so long as it does not directly and significantly infringe upon the rights of others. This is also a national security issue. It is an economic issue. It is a Constitutional issue so far as by design we need food to survive, so by design this is literally one of the most important and obvious inalienable rights there is. Even if you do not want to have a garden or raise any of your own food, if you want better national security and less expensive food, then you should support this. In our capitalist society, it is easy to change prices. You either need less demand or more supply, or of course, both. Since people still need to eat, the only feasible way to do this in an effective and long-lasting way is to announce and defend the inalienable right to raise or grow your own food, including that right for others. Please support this petition and help us to lower food prices and to increase the supply of healthy food in the United States.
