🚨 Petition Update: Urgent Action Needed – Support Funding for Marine Mammal Care Center!

Dear Supporters,

Our coastline is in crisis.

Santa Monica Bay is experiencing a devastating toxic algae bloom that’s poisoning dolphins, sea lions, and other marine life. These animals are stranding on our beaches — disoriented, seizing, and dying — with heartbreaking frequency. The neurotoxin, domoic acid, is causing neurological damage and mass wildlife casualties.

The Marine Mammal Care Center (MMCC) is the only rescue and rehabilitation facility serving all of Los Angeles County’s 70 miles of coastline. They are at capacity, underfunded, and fielding hundreds of emergency calls every week — yet they receive no consistent public funding from the County.

🌊 We’re calling on LA County to allocate available energy settlement funds to support MMCC’s life-saving work.

These funds are designated for environmental restoration — and there is no more urgent or visible impact than what we’re witnessing on our beaches right now.

We need your voice. Submit a public comment urging LA County to allocate energy settlement funds to Marine Mammal Care Center. Let our leaders know that Los Angeles residents stand for ocean health, animal protection, and science-based crisis response.
