There is a meeting tomorrow evening— with Glendale City officials about the horrible destruction at Glendale Garden Homes. If you have questions and want answers, please attend.... from the City: The meeting will take place tomorrow evening at 6:00 PM at the Police Department Community Meeting Room, located at 131 N Isabel St. We welcome you to meet with staff to discuss the recently issued notices of violations, code enforcement issues and concern on site, and to answer any questions you may have.
It is a shameful, dark time in Glendale. At the highest levels of city government, the wants of the residents (and over 3,000 petition signers) have been utterly ignored and high priced LA attorney Daniel Freedman, and the big pockets of developer BWBrody, intimidated Glendale. Three people; the City Attorney, the Director of Community Development and shockingly, the Historic Preservation planner, took it upon themselves to allow the destruction of over 40 trees over the past 2 1/2 weeks- and the chainsaws, chaos, and dangerous conditions are ongoing. It occurred to none of them to consult our elected City Counsel, it occurred to none of them that the contentious city council meeting which mandated an EIR might require an open process and input from our representatives. It occurred to none of them to inform the neighborhood, the residents, or our City Manager, who had no idea what was happening behind closed doors. It is beyond gross negligence, it is incompetence of the highest order. And now we've lost 50-60 year old shade- providing, life-enhancing trees, a unicorn in a multi family neighborhood.
I don't know where Glendale goes from here. My disgust is palpable. I certainly am done with this city - though I will continue to fight for the buildings and the residents.
