Hi everyone, 

Firstly, we hope you and those you care about are safe and getting all you need. It is with great resilience that we are reaching out. The current crisis has shown us how vital, valuable and yet fragile our communities are, and reminds us that Glendale is a community worth protecting. Three important points:

• The fires, evacuations, and gridlock have made us painfully aware of the dangers posed by mass-density development in an area like North Central Avenue that lacks the infrastructure and emergency preparedness to support such growth. Sacramento forcing the high-density bonus laws on us without regard for traffic, safety, or infrastructure, is reckless and irresponsible. We can and must fight for a safe, livable Glendale.
   
• The fires have robbed us of so many unique and historical structures. Especially now, we cannot afford to lose Glendale Garden Homes (1303-1315 North Central Ave)  an irreplaceable piece of not just Glendale’s, but of California’s architectural design heritage. Tell City Council we do not want Glendale to be a part of the generic Los Angeles concrete jungle, we love and value our history!  
   
• The historical and architectural value of the Glendale Garden Homes has been thoroughly assessed by Jay Platt, the Principal Planner for the City of Glendale’s Community Development Department. Mr. Platt has the required professional expertise to evaluate historical resource sites, under the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History. His assessment confirms the Glendale Garden Homes' historical and architectural value, a view reinforced by the LA Conservancy, an organization committed to the preservation of our region’s cultural history. 

We must demand that Glendale City Council confirm Mr. Platt's assessment, deny the developer’s appeal, and require an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to fully assess the consequences of demolishing Historic Glendale Garden Homes and the potential risks of the proposed development.  We are standing up for Glendale’s future, its past, and the safety of every resident. We must fight for Glendale.
