🌈❤️ Community Spaces — A Place to Belong, A Place to Be Yourself

Imagine having somewhere in your community where you could walk through the door and feel welcome.

Somewhere you wouldn't have to explain why you communicate differently, need a quieter environment, take longer to make a decision or simply prefer a different way of joining in.

That's part of the thinking behind my petition for more inclusive Community Spaces.

I believe community spaces should be for everyone — neurodivergent and neurotypical people, disabled and non-disabled people, and people with different interests, abilities and support needs.

Inclusion isn't just about having a building that's open to the public.

It's also about whether people feel comfortable using it.

That might mean having quieter areas, clearer information, activities that suit different interests, staff who understand different communication needs and opportunities to socialise without pressure.

Some people enjoy lively activities and meeting lots of others. Some prefer quieter company or a smaller group. Others may want to take part at their own pace.

All of those ways of participating deserve consideration.

Because belonging shouldn't depend on everyone having the same needs.

Different people. Shared spaces. Stronger communities. ❤️
