Community spaces can look ordinary from the outside, but for many people they are where belonging, confidence, friendship and independence actually happen. They give people somewhere accessible to go, something meaningful to be part of, and a chance to connect without having to fit into spaces that don’t work for them.

That’s why protecting community spaces matters. Once they disappear, replacing what they offered isn’t as simple as finding another building.
