50 Weeks Since Parliament — And the Campaign Continues 🏛️
It’s now 50 weeks since Martin Wrigley MP presented my petition for more inclusive community spaces in Parliament.
Since then, the Government has formally responded to the petition, recognising the importance of inclusive spaces for disabled and neurodivergent people, and the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Act 2026 has now received Royal Assent.
The Act doesn’t mean the petition is “finished”, and it doesn’t automatically create the kind of inclusive community space I’ve been campaigning for. But it does feel significant that community empowerment, community assets and stronger local involvement are now being given more attention nationally.
For me, the message remains the same: people need welcoming places where they can belong, connect, take part and feel included.
Nearly a year on from Parliament, the conversation is still moving — and so is the campaign.
