Today marks one year since I signed my final Makaton on the TV news following the closure of No Limits Community Café.
At the time, it felt like everything stopped very suddenly. But the impact didn’t stop there — it’s continued in the months since, especially for those of us who relied on that space not just for work, but for connection, routine, and purpose.
This petition started as a response to that moment, but it has grown into something more: A call for recognition that spaces like this matter, and that losing them has real consequences.
Over the past year, support has come from local, national, and even international attention. That shows this isn’t just one story — it’s something people understand and care about more widely.
Even so, the need hasn’t gone away.
Opportunities still feel limited.
Support systems still feel unclear.
And for many, there is still no direct replacement for what was lost.
That’s why continuing to share and sign this petition still matters.
If you’ve already supported — thank you.
If you can share it again — it really helps keep the conversation going.
Together, we’re keeping something important visible.
