Today I received a formal response from the Department for Work and Pensions regarding my September letter about Access to Work and the closure of No Limits Community Café & Hub.
The Department confirmed that Access to Work is currently under review following consultation, and that reform proposals will be published in due course.
They also clarified that responsibility for planning-based protection of community spaces sits with a different department (the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government). This highlights how the issues affecting community hubs often span multiple areas of government.
While no specific commitments have been made yet, this confirms that Access to Work reform is actively being considered at national level.
I will continue to monitor developments and share updates when proposals are published.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support the protection of community spaces.
