Dear Supporters,

I wanted to share an exciting update on our campaign for vital community spaces in Newton Abbot. Firstly, a big thank you to our latest supporter who just signed the petition! Every single signature brings us one step closer to making a real difference in our town. We're currently at 137 strong and growing!

As you know, this petition began with a heartfelt effort to protect the No Limits Community Cafe & Hub, a truly inclusive space that sadly had to close its doors. While that initial fight highlighted the urgent need for such hubs, our focus has now broadened to address the wider lack of accessible and welcoming community spaces in Newton Abbot for everyone, including differently-abled individuals.

I had a very productive video call recently with our MP, Martin Wrigley, to discuss this crucial issue and the incredible support you have all shown through this petition. I'm thrilled to announce that Mr. Wrigley was deeply impressed by our collective efforts and has committed to personally taking our petition to Parliament for discussion! This is a significant milestone and a testament to the power of our voices when we come together for something that truly matters.

Mr. Wrigley acknowledged the profound importance of community spaces for fostering connection, providing support, and enhancing the well-being of everyone in Newton Abbot. He also recognized the specific challenges faced by differently-abled individuals and the broader societal benefits of inclusive environments.

Looking ahead, we have further important discussions scheduled with the local authority and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on June 6th. These meetings will focus on the cost of living crisis, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), and how these issues intersect with the need for community support and accessible spaces. Furthermore, we are exploring a potential partnership with Devon County FA, with the possibility of Chris French, their CEO, including the points raised in our petition at the June 6th event. I've even been invited to potentially demonstrate Makaton skills at this event, which is a fantastic opportunity to raise further awareness.

This progress wouldn't be possible without each and every one of you who has signed and shared this petition. Your support has been instrumental in getting our voices heard and capturing the attention of our MP. Now that our petition is heading to Parliament, it's more crucial than ever to keep the momentum going and continue to grow our support.

Here's how you can continue to help:
